I’ve frequented the eXceem forums under the user name FurbtasticM for nigh on four years and owe a great deal of my freebie success to the community there.

I’ve run several competitions along the way to say thanks and have given away everything from lottery tickets to a Sony PS3 console bundle.

This time I’m back with a completely new and different format.

I’m hoping there are no teething problems but please feel free to comment with any queries or suggestions.  If the competition turns out well, then it may evolve into a regular monthly feature.

Entry Requirements

Nothing too onerous, just a bit of link lurve required!

• Starts 9th September and closes 8th October 2010.
• The competition is open to anyone who has been a member of eXceem for at least 30 days and has made 20 or more meaningful posts.

• Once you have added/posted the link, please add a comment to this thread to show me where to find it. By doing so, you will also get a backlink of your own into the process!
• Each new, genuine, unique link gives you one entry slot.
• Links from social media sites will not be eligible, with the exception of Facebook.

The target link is a YouTube video; there is no obligation to do so but please feel free to rate it or comment.

The Prize

• A winner will be chosen totally at random, everyone has the same chance to get lucky.
• The minimum prize is 6 greens, worth £102 in cash or £120 if you chose a free gift.
• Additional greens will be awarded for noteworthy links:
  • PR0 or N/A – 0 extra
  • Facbook/Forum signature – 1 extra
  • PR1 – 2 extra
  • PR2 – 3 extra
  • ..and so on…
• If the link is placed within a week of the end date, then I will use my discretion to pro-rata the prize to reflect the length of time the winner’s link has been live.  I clearly don’t want everyone waiting until the very last moment.

• I’m going to keep things simple and wont bombard you with a list of rules. What I don’t want to see is people trying to manipulate links, making them “no follow” or anything else that is against the spirit of the competition.

The news is full of talk about the iPhone 4 and it’s poor reception. Apple finally bowed to consumer pressure and are offering a free iPhone 4 “band-aid” to solve the issue.

However, let’s not forget that before you need the fix, you have to shell out an arm and a leg to get the iPhone 4 itself. Like apple, Simplyfreeiphone is offering a free solution…a free iPhone 4. Go grab yours now!

Turning back to the free iPhone 4 band fix, it is clear that Apple’s squeaky clean image has taken a bit of a hit and its shares are down 7 percent since the end of June 2010. They current stand at $245.58 on NASDAQ.

“We believe Apple accomplished its objective of addressing the iPhone 4 antenna issues to its customers and, more importantly, relieving the excitement levels and tension with the press,” BMO Capital Markets analyst Keith Bachman wrote in a research report.

“While we expect the debate to continue, we believe the company’s response should begin to lower the rampant criticism emanating from the media-driven frenzy,” J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz said in a note to clients.

We don’t imagine a recall will be needed but a permanent fix surely has to come with future models.

…but Apple wants it back!

Gizmodo is under the cosh from Steve Job’s boys after a prototype free iPhone 4G was found on a restaurant floor over the weekend. They have been asked to return the iPhone 4G to its rightful owner. We assume that means Apple and not their (probably now “ex”) research and development employee who lost it.

In denying that the iPhone 4G was stolen, they probably admitted knowledge that it was! In our day, we would just have said “finder’s keepers”.

I stumbled across incentive based affiliate marketing almost three years ago whilst looking for an Xbox 360 to stream  music to my home entertainment system.
