Reports are emerging that future Apple iPhones (and maybe the iPad) will have capabilities to pay for goods electronically through a swipe system.

It’s rumoured that this fifth generation iPhone 5 will have these capabilities integrated on launch.

The release date is predicted to be somewhere around June 2011 and many technology experts are suggesting that the iPhones may include Near Field Communications (NFC) to make payment by swipe possible.

This new technology could mark the start of the end for using plastic cards by using a payment system included in your iPhone for free.

It’ll be interesting to determine how the credit card companies react and what impact it has on their business.

Although Apple have not yet formed any partnership with NFC, common sense says that Near Field Communications would like to do business with Apple and put money into this technology.

Recently there’s been several statements released through high technology establishments including Tech Radar (this week) and Crone Consulting suggesting this rumour can be reality.

Apple are congratulating themselves on what they are calling their most successful launch and claim they could have sold more iPhone 4 deals had stock been available. 1.7 million in a matter of days is nothing short of a miracle given the state of the economy but it just goes to show the power of Steve Job’s marketing machine. Even the 3G and 3GS only sold 1 million in the days after release.

Perhaps, given those volumes, the teething problems that some users have experienced were inevitable. Were similar problems encountered with the 3G or 3Gs or even the iPad though? Not that we can recall, so is the iPhone 4 release really a total success if you move away from the numbers? On balance, the answer has to be yes, the iPhone 4 is one heck of a bit of kit.

Gizmodo is under the cosh from Steve Job’s boys after a prototype free iPhone 4G was found on a restaurant floor over the weekend. They have been asked to return the iPhone 4G to its rightful owner. We assume that means Apple and not their (probably now “ex”) research and development employee who lost it.

In denying that the iPhone 4G was stolen, they probably admitted knowledge that it was! In our day, we would just have said “finder’s keepers”.

To Acquire an iPhone on Contract or Not? What is the best iPhone deal?

All over the UK, USA and North America in general, most companies prefer that you purchase your gadget with a contract attached to it. When doing this, you must remember that you are not allowed to use any other network on your mobile gadget as it is locked and also that you are committing yourself to paying monthly bills to your preferred network. You therefore want the shortest iPhone contract.
This is not only limiting but it can also be expensive in end.

When buying an iPhone, most contracts from dealers demand that you pay a minimum of between $40 and $80 every month. In most cases this has a limited talk time of six hundred minutes and unlimited number of text messages.
