iPhone Alerts London Underground

The joy of upgrading to my free iPhone 3GS was the multitude of apps that are available.

Like everyone else, I set Google on finding the “best iPhone Apps” and installed and tested a whole load.  One of the best was the London Underground tube app and that came in particularly handy for our trip to We Shall Rock You in the West End.

Hardly surprisingly, the app is not quite as useful 75 miles away in Swindon.  So, why in the latest release have they included alerts about line closures and delays that you can’t turn off and use the same tone as a text?  If I had a pound for everytime I have gone to answer a text today only to find that there are unusual train stopping leaves on the Metropolitan bloody Line!

Yes, I have turned off notifications in general settings… Yes, I still got the alerts.

No, I no longer have the app installed!

That’s a good app with a bad implementation. Further tweaking is needed to make this more user-friendly. A simple change in alert tone would go a long way.
