Gone are the days when Apple took seven to ten days to send out the iPad. That doesn’t sound long but a watched clock always seems to stop, particularly when it is such an amazing piece of kit that you are waiting for.

Apple have just announced that online orders will be fulfilled within 24 hours. That includes all of the model range, notably the Wi-Fi versions.

Shipping time is one thing but the cost hasn’t come down. Never fear though, as we reported earlier in the year, Gadgets4nowt is promoting an iPad giveaway that means you can get an iPad for free with a minimum of effort.

They say that size doesn’t matter but Apple isn’t satisfied with the current set-up. If the rumours are right, they will be resizing to a 7″ iPad version in Spring 2011. RAM will be increased to the 512MB featured in the iPhone 4, twice what we have in the iPad right now. The current iPad and iPhone contain an uprated ARM Cortex A8 CPU, but the 7″ iPad will rock with the Cortex A9.

Rumours are abound about Apple TV, which wont have a hard disc and may go the way of the iPhone interface.

The world’s largest Apple shop is set to open in London’s Covent Garden.

Some people have already begun queueing; the shop opens its doors at 1000 BST….An Apple executive said it was “a big moment” for the firm as this would be its 300th storebut will they be giving away a free iPhone 4 like we can!

An estimated 5,000 people waited outside Regent Street when it opened for the first time in November 2004.

There have regularly been overnight queues since then as new products were launched.

However, there were many complaints about the most recent of these gadgets, the iPhone 4, with the handset’s signal strength often draining when it was held in a certain way.

Last month Apple offered a free “bumper” case to everyone who had bought a phonein an attempt to overcome the problem.

The new store in central London has about 300 employees.

The actor and writer Stephen Fry, renowned as one of the company’s devotees, wrote on his Twitter feed that the shop’s prestigious address – No 1, The Plaza, Covent Garden – meant that “if all goes wrong, Apple will survive as real-estate owners”.
