Who else remembers the days when you could talk the manager of Currys into a small discount “for cash”, walking out of the shop with your Sony Walkman thinking you were a haggler extraordinaire?

Step back to the future (more nostalgia there, totally intended!) and it’s technology that wins the day.

The weekend’s Christmas shopping trip is a prime example. I’d headed back to the modern day Currys armed with my free iPhone at the ready. Yeah, due to the powers of the Internet, I’d used incentive rewards marketing to get a 3GS for nothing, unlocked and Sim free. Sorry, back to the story…

So, I toddle off to the coffee machine section and pick out a Krups Dolce Gusto. A cool piece of machinery indeed but pricey at £119.99. Never fear, out comes the iPhone, load up the free Amazon app and scan the Dolce Gusto barcode….voilà, the exact product appears for a bargain £49.99, with Prime delivery available.

Ordered on Saturday, delivered today and £70 saved, all due to my free iPhone. Priceless!

You’ve probably all hear me rave about Freebiejeebies and the huge array of free stuff that I have received from them over the last three years. Well, six months ago they went one step better and offered users the chance to win one of three fantastic cash prizes.

The winners were drawn on Saturday, 26th February and I won the third prize of £1,000. Look, it’s me, Steve Elliott!

I’ve recently had the pleasure of getting to know Mario Shamir over at Freebiekingz and can wholeheartedly recommend that you pay the site a visit.

Mario asked if I would be happy to share my freebie experiences and talk about the £75,000 that I’d received. I was only too happy to oblige and hope that you will take a few minutes to take a look at the full interview here.

Just remember, the person who gets the farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The “sure-thing” boat never gets far from shore!

EDIT: Recommending a “competitor” is not something that I’d normally do but his site is one of the best I have seen in the four years I have been freebie hunting. Not just for the style and layout but also the wealth of information and out of the box thinking….just come back here an use my links if you want free gifts!

Will rewards site Giveaway be making a comeback?

I’m pleased to say that I’m the new owner of the domain Giveaway.co.uk. The domain used to host Giveaway Network the UK’s largest incentive rewards site, offering free gifts such as a free iPhone and free iPad) but that came to a sad end. I’m not going to dwell on that other than to say that I am in no way associated with the old business, this is now all me, and all new.

I just need to work out what to do with it!
