It’s been a while since I updated you on my freebie success and it’s an understatement to say things are continue to improve beyond my wildest dreams.

The main thrust of my work is promoting free iPhone and free iPad incentives. There are only so many free gadgets that any one person can have but due to the amazing flexibility that FreebieJeebies offers, I am able to choose cash via bank transfer rather than the gifts themselves.

iPhone Deals – How to find the best  iPhone deals and shortest iPhone contracts

Just to follow-up my thread on eXceem earlier this evening, another huge thanks to the team at FreebieJeebies for the bank transfer of £4,097 that has just arrived in my account.

That amazing haul represents 241 referrals who completed referrals via my free iPhone site/page.  I decided to take that in cash at £17 per referral rather than have a whole bunch of free iPhones to try and sell on eBay!

I’d been averaging 10 referrals a day and lost a few revokes when LOVEFiLM finally issued its report and a few more went on verification due to duplicate accounts unfortunately.

One would wonder, after developing the perfect iPhone application, what are the best ways to put it out there and make it sell putting into consideration that there is fierce competition from other developers? What are the ways to make it stand out and catch the attention of buyers?

Below are 10 ways to easily promote an iPhone Application:1. Create a YouTube account and make a good Demo Video for your application. Ensure that you promote this and you get some views. You can do this by back linking from your blog or articles.
2. Use a name that is catchy, interesting and easy to remember.
3. Offer a free trial. This will make sure that your buyers have a chance to experience what you are selling to them for some days before making the actual purchase.
4. Use social networking sites like twitter and face book to promote your application.
5. Place an ad on Craigslist.
6. Use Word of mouth to Promote your App. This can involve telling your friends and relatives about it.
7. Send out a press release to media houses.
8. Create a website for your application.
9. Use Google PPC and make campaigns that will link to your website.
10. Use Social Bookmarking sites like Digg.com and Stumbleupon.com to promote your App.

If you follow the above tips and implement them well, you will rest assured that your iPhone application gets the attention it deserves and you also get to make some sales from it!

My new TV set up just didn’t look right with a white Wii and I was reluctant to sell it and buy a black one.  The answer was to buy an i-Case “Dark Knight” replacement for roughly £25.

Make sure the all important tool/screwdriver is included when you buy.  All you then need is a tutorial, patience beyond what is humanly possible and/or a swear-box.  Fifty screws undone and retightended later and your Wii will have a shiny black case like mine.  I was impressed with the tutorial overall but did end up finding I had not reinstalled one of the bits.

I’m not sure exactly what this is but if I had to guess, would say it was something to do with the heat sink/ventilation/fan.  The Wii is working and has been rigorously tested but I guess time will tell.

If anyone out there does know what the part is and where it goes, then please leave a comment, thanks.

In conclusion, I would warn people to make sure they realise what is required before changing their case but if you have the confidence to give it a go and take your time, then it is a better option than buying a new Wii.   I took the risk because I got my Wii for free and didn’t have so much to lose.

Earlier in the year, the guys at Gizmodo put together a fantastic guide to get your PS3 running Ubuntu.  With the release of the new Slim model and inevitable rush to dust off our old consoles, it is a good time to revisit the article.  In the words of John Mahoney….

It still kind of surprises me (in a good way) that Sony was, from the start, very OK with PS3 owners tinkering with Linux on their PS3s. A modified release of Yellow Dog Linux is available and some very handy hard drive partitioning and dual-boot utilities are baked right into the PS3′s XMB;

There is a flipside to this coin, however. Since the PS3′s Cell Processor is PowerPC based, you won’t be able to use any Linux software that’s compiled for x86, which is, unfortunately, most of it. However, Ubuntu has always had a PPC distro, and most of the basic stuff will work just fine. You can even load up a PPC-compiled Super Nintendo Emulator, SNES9X, and play some classic games pretty easily on your Sixaxis controller paired via Bluetooth. Also, doing web browsing and other basic computing is a lot more natural and elegant on Ubuntu running on your TV than in the PS3′s somewhat gimped browser.

Another downside is performance—the PS3 obviously has a lot of hardware muscle, but there are no Linux drivers to take full advantage of the Cell processor’s multi-core architecture, or the PS3′s hardware graphics acceleration. Plus, Ubuntu can only see and use 221.7 MB of the PS3′s 512MB of RAM for some reason. So it won’t be a speed demon (and you won’t be able to play HD videos or anything), but it’s definitely functional for the basics.

And, even over two years into the PS3′s life, doing all of this still requires a fair amount of Linux geek forum sifting, which I have humbly take upon myself to do so you don’t have to. And believe me, you don’t.

OK, so I can hardly pretend that I spent my formative years with access to PCs and the Internet but I get by fairly well.   That is, until it comes to search engine rankings!

The Web is littered with promises of top spots in the hallowed ground that is Google but does anyone truly know what Search Engine Optimisation (“SEO”) is really all about?   I have one or two sites in top spots after months of work but the problem is that those followed months of trial and error with a bit of logic thrown in.

Take the search term “free iPod” for example.   I did very little work and held top spot for months in Google UK.   I have now dropped and have no idea what to do to redress the balance.   The same applies to “free gifts“.

So, back to the trial and error drawing board for me!
