Tesco hope to offer iPhone in the UK before Christmas

iPhone from Tesco

I’ve just been alerted to this breaking news on the BBC website:

Supermarket giant Tesco has joined a growing number of UK firms offering Apple’s popular iPhone.

A spokesperson for the firm said that it hoped to offer the iPhone 3GS  ”in time for Christmas”. Although Tesco has not revealed tariffs, the spokesperson said that its prices were “competitive”.

HTC Tattoo – A Man’s First Impressions

I’ve just got hold of the new HTC Tattoo smart phone as a free upgrade for the wife and was merrily boasting how I would “show her just how easy it is to use”.

That was before I switched it on!  After years of using Nokias before buying my iPhone, the interface is totally alien (Android nicely sums it up!) and even things like text messages are proving embarrassingly difficult.

Take a closer look at the iPhone 3GS on Orange

Orange-iPhone-3GS

Spotted an interesting article from Mark Wilson over on Stuff.TV

Orange’s iPhone 3GS has hit shelves beneath banners proclaiming ‘you’re covered’ – a reference to its 3G network apparently covering 93% of the UK, more than any of its rivals. But does it mean a smoother iPhone web browsing experience? We compared one with an O2 iPhone 3GS on our commute to find out.

It’s worth noting first that doing a network test that’s definitive for everyone is nigh on impossible – several different factors effect speeds, and 3G coverage is rarely consistent across large areas. But it can at least provide an general idea of the consistency of coverage.

google_earth_iphone

The 2.0 update to Google Earth for iPhone lets you view your saved maps, more easily browse linked location data, and adds 13 new languages.

Google announced Wednesday that Google Earth for iPhone has been updated to version 2.0. Though the major version number has incremented, the update is rather minor except for a new ability to connect to your saved Google Maps and view them overlaid on its virtual globe.
